Short-timer syndrome: behaviors that kick in when you are about to leave something. I first heard of it regarding people in jail – that just before they are set to get released, they’re so agitated and eager they have a short fuse. So they do something that ruins their chances to get out – like getting in a fight or being insubordinate.
Well, we’ve been in COVID jail. Many still are. Let’s celebrate life and love safely this weekend with another virtual get-together.
Our sentence seems to be nearing its end (at least in the U.S., and knocking firmly on wood), and it’s tempting to just throw caution to the wind – like with a half-a-vaccine in you, or with not enough time elapsed. That’s the boat I’m in. So I wanted to schedule something for this Saturday night, May 1st, that will keep me in and safe, and keep you in and safe, and still has the prospect of fun.
If you’re reading this, you’re invited. Download the app HouseParty. Sign yourself in and look for me – “Keruin” – and friend me.
From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. DC time, Saturday May 1st, I’ll be hosting a party on the site. I am going to dress up, have hors d’oeuvres and drinkies, and see and talk to friends and family. It sounds fun and silly and I could use that right about now – maybe you’re in the same boat. (Wait – aren’t we all in the same boat? A world-shaped cruise ship searching for safe harbor…)
Ping me on WhatsApp or Facebook or email if you have questions. There will be a backup option if HouseParty fails us. Come for as long as you like, or even if you have to sign on and say hi, then head off – it would just be good to be Live!
